At the 2017 Elkhart Jazz Festival, Elkhart Lions president Bart Fore was acknowledged for the club's sponsorship of the 'Loop the Lerner' project. Two special plaques on both sides of the main entrance to the theater give testimony to the Lions' effort to improve hearing for those patrons with hearing aid devices that can be tuned directly to the facility's audio system.

Club Information

In December, 1923, thirty-four businessmen joined together to start the Elkhart Lions Club. On April 17, 1924, Melvin Jones presented the club with its new charter from the International Association of Lions Clubs in a ceremony held in Chicago.
The Elkhart Lions Club has continued since that time with a special focus on helping people who are visually challenged. The Elkhart Lions was one of the founding organizations that worked to form the Indiana Lions Eye Bank. Annually, the club provides assistance in the form of eyeglass examinations and prescription eyeglasses for those who meet the qualification guidelines established.
Additionally, the club also participates in numerous community service projects.

The Elkhart Lions Club meets Wednesday noon at Christiana Creek Country Club, 116 West Bristol St., Elkhart, IN.
